The SENA Network is the distributed connectivity and trust layer that links SENA Microgrids, organisations, people, devices and digital services into a Trusted Global Network. Rather than creating one centralised system through which all data must pass, SENA establishes a network of interconnected regional Microgrids, each capable of providing local connectivity, Edge computing, distributed data services and access to AI and business applications while remaining connected to the wider network.

At the heart of the network is Holochain-based distributed technology, providing an architecture in which participants can maintain their own data and digital identity while securely exchanging information with other authorised participants. This creates the potential for a fundamentally different approach to HR and business data: data can remain closer to its owner, be selectively shared when required, and be portable between organisations and across a person’s working life.

The SENA Network is designed to be provider-neutral. Telecommunications companies, satellite providers, energy providers, Edge infrastructure operators and application providers can participate without controlling the network itself. Each SENA Microgrid has its own geographic and network identity, while provider-specific services can be mapped into that identity. This allows the network to evolve as technologies and service providers change without requiring the underlying SENA identity and relationships to change with them.

The result is a distributed network of local capability connected globally. A regional community can generate and store energy, establish reliable communications, operate local Edge computing, host distributed applications and support local organisations and workers – while participating in a much larger ecosystem for trusted data exchange, AI and economic opportunity.

Centralise Standards – Distribute Capability

SENA’s network philosophy is simple: centralise the standards and governance required to establish trust, but distribute the infrastructure and capability required to deliver services locally.

This creates a network designed not simply to connect computers, but to connect people, organisations, data, technology and opportunity – with employee data ownership, portability and sovereignty built into the architecture from the beginning.

The table below illustrates the (Pre-COVID data) industry profiles for the 93 companies within the targeted regions, listed using the First Nation regional name. The SENA project will collaborate with participants to identify skills needs in certain industries.
